Bring Back the Leather Couch

There’s a reason everyone had one.

A brief history: In the 90’s, owning a leather couch was mandatory. What else would a couch be covered with, except the most naturally durable and luxurious material known to man? Linen, it turned out. By the mid-2000’s we all decided we needed oversized linen sofas, mostly because Restoration Hardware told us to. That’s about when leather couches became unfashionable, then borderline illegal.

That’s what makes them so cool. These days, making a leather couch the centerpiece of your living room is transgressive, as well as incredibly relaxing. We’ve all been panicking every time someone held a glass of red wine within spilling-distance of our celebrity-approved Cloud couches for over a decade. Enough! We think it’s time to bring back the transgressively cool, nearly indestructible, 90’s-nostalgic leather couch. And Architectural Digest agrees.
